Sherpur Correspondent: Sample crops harvest Aman paddy (BRRI Dan-75 and Dhanigold) and Farmers’ ‘Field Day’ was held at kursha area of Nakla municipality and Narayankhola village of Charashtadhar union in Nakla upazila, of Sherpur district on Wednesday noon.
The Sample Crops cut and Field Day was organized by the Nakla upazila agriculture office of DAE. Upazila Agriculture Officer (UAO) agriculturist Paresh Chandra Das presided over the crop cutting and Farmer’s Field day programs.
The paddy was harvested as a sample of Meraj Ali, a farmer from Narayankhola area of Narayankhola block of Charashtadhar union and Md Liaquat Ali, a farmer from Kurshabadagair area of Kursha block of the municipality of the upazila.
Sub Assistant Plant Protection Officer (SAPPO) Fakir Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, Sub Assistant Agriculture Officer (SAAO) Altaf Hossain and SAAO M.A Samad and more than hundred of local farmers, journalists of different media were present on the occasion.
UAO agriculturist Paresh Chandra Das said, In wet condition 25.2% moisture Bridhan-75 is available at 5.25 MT per hectare, which is 3.05 MT per hectare of rice, and 27.8% moisture Dhanigold is available at 6 MT per hectare, which is 3.32 MT per hectare of rice.
He also said that, Aman paddy has been planted in a total of 12,450 hectares of land in the upazila during the current season. Of these, hybrid varieties of paddy have been cultivated in 2,050 hectares of land, Ufshi varieties of paddy have been cultivated in 6,440 hectares of land and local varieties of paddy have been cultivated in 3,960 hectares of land.
