Sherpur: A total Tk 250,000 has been fined on 4 factories for making adulterated food items, beverage and various unauthorized products in Nakla upazila of Sherpur district.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Zahidur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kawsar Ahammed and RAB-14 team from Jamalpur conducted the operation from noon to 5 pm on Thursday.
In this operation, 4 owners of the factory producing adulterated food items, beverage and various unauthorized products were fined and about 4 thousand packet of adulterated Semai was declared confiscated and destroyed.
Nur Muhammad of Kayda village, Alamgir Hossain of Bazardi and Md Abdul Jalil of north Kayda area was each fined Tk 50,000 for make and marketing of Semai, that without permission and fully illegal system. Other hand, the owner of Fahim Suji factory in Nakla town (Ishibpur) Md Sohel Rana Nizam was fined Tk 100,000 for illegally manufacturing and marketing at least 26 products including mango juice.
At that time, M.M Sabuj Rana ASP and a team of Jamalpur RAB-14 as the law enforcement force, the president of Nakla Press Club Md Musharaf Hossain, Vice-president Mizanur Rahman, general secretary Mosharraf Hossain Sarkar Babu, joint secretary Nasir Uddin, finance secretary Abdullah Al Amin, journalist Muhammad Hazrat Ali, Shafiul Alam Lavlu, Abdul Motaleb Selim and many others were present.
MM Sabuj Rana ASP of Jamalpur RAB-14, said that 3 persons were fined Tk 50,000 each and a total of Tk 150,000 for making adulterated semai in an unhealthy and fined Tk 100,000 for illegally manufacturing and marketing at least 26 products including mango juice.
Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kawsar Ahammed said that under the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009 (43, 52 and 53); illegal and unusable products have been burnt and destroyed for illegally producing, packaging and marketing various products including semai and juice without permission.
UNO Zahidur Rahman said that, instructions have been given to stop the production of adulterated food items and various unlicensed items until they get legal validity.
Upazila nirbahi officer Zahidur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kawsar Ahammed and ASP M.M Sabuj Rana of Jamalpur RAB-14 said such operations would continue on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
