Sherpur: About Seven thousand cold-hit people get blankets in Nakla upazila of Sherpur district in the current winter season. As part of this, blankets have been distributed among the poor, helpless, elderly and disabled cold-hit people at the initiative of the district administration on Wednesday afternoon.

On this occasion, a winter clothes distribution program was organized by the upazila administration of Nakla. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Zahidur Rahman handed over a blanket to the poor, helpless, elderly and disabled cold-hit people from different areas of the upazila.

Among others, Asaduzzaman Sourav president of Nakla Elderly-Disabled Welfare Organization, Abdullah Al-Amin coordinator of BD Clean Nakla, Md Nur Hossain president and Nahidul Islam Rijon vice president of Nakla Youth Reporters Club, Certificate Assistant (CA) Mst Chayeda Begum, office assistant cum-computer typist Md Moniruzzaman Milon and Md Ashraful Alam Shahin, entrepreneur Md Atiqur Rahman and others employees of different levels of UNO office, poor, helpless, elderly and disabled men-women of different ages from different areas of the upazila, journalists of different media were present.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Zahidur Rahman said blankets and winter clothes were distributed among the poor, helpless elderly and disabled people on the initiative of the district administration under the direction of Hon’ble Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anar Kali Mahbub. He also said that in the meantime, blankets have been distributed among 6,296 cold-hit people in the upazila under the management of distribution in 9 union parishads of the upazila with the funding of the Disaster Management Department of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief. Those poor, helpless, cold-hit elderly and disabled people who have not received blankets or winter clothes; if necessary, will be distributed among them, he added.
