Staff Reporter: Anwar-E-Taslima, Chairman of Sristy Human Rights Society said, “Our organization is working relentlessly to establish good governance and the rights of the people in the country since 2014. Human rights are the right to life, but in our country murders, rapes, gang rapes, kidnappings, child labor, deprivation of fair wages of workers are all happening now. This is violating the basic human rights of the people. The overall development of the country is hampered due to these reasons. These cannot go on in a democratic country.”
Taslima said the responsibility of a state is to protect civil rights. The state is very powerful but the institutions and individuals are very helpless. Human rights organizations are needed to stand by this helpless person, which the whole world realized. And in our state where poverty, inequality and deprivation are high but here it is a big responsibility to stand by the helpless people. I myself have been attacked and sued for protesting against injustice. I also had to be imprisoned.

Vice Chairman Engineer Md Wali Ullah said, the space for dissent in the state was shrinking. There are also allegations that if you disagree, you have to be attacked and sued. Freedom of expression requires democracy, good governance, effective opposition and much more. There is a big deficit of all this. In this situation, human rights organizations need to play a more effective role in protecting freedom of expression.
Walk Ullah added that the United Kingdom has recently expressed concern over the human rights situation in Bangladesh A report released by the country’s government on November 20 stated this concern
The European country has expressed concern over the situation in 30 countries, citing various incidents that took place between January 1 and June 30 this year in a human rights report.
The report states that the overall human rights situation in Bangladesh is worrisome The South Asian country has been accused of extrajudicial killings, curtailment of media freedom and irregularities in various elections, including lawsuits under the Digital Security Act.
Our demand to the government is to ensure good governance of law, freedom of expression and security of life and property in the state.
